Technologically advanced vacuum and ventilation systems for domestic and commercial applications
faq

1: How does the system work?

Your central vacuum power unit is located in the garage, utility, storage or plant room. A 50.8mm vacuum duct runs from the power unit to strategically located vacuum inlets throughout the property. All you need to carry is the lightweight hose. The power unit will start automatically once the end of the hose is inserted into the automatic inlet.

2: How long is the hose?

Your crushproof vacuum hose is usually supplied in the standard length of 9m (30'). However, you might find a shorter length hose sufficient. Please be aware however, your home may require more inlets to ensure complete coverage.

3: Do I really need this system if my floors are going to be wooden / tiled?

Yes - a central vacuum system is especially suitable for wooden floors because of the need to vacuum these rather than brushing them which raises dust onto fabrics, furniture etc. A special hard floor brush is supplied with all our systems for this purpose.

4: How does the Central Vacuum improve indoor air quality?

Unlike portable vacuums, a central vacuum system does not exhaust dirty, allergen-laden air back into living areas. With up to 5 times more suction power, the system removes all dust, debris and allergy-causing particles.

5: Is the suction power maintained throughout the building?

Yes! A properly installed system offers the same powerful cleaning performance at every inlet whatever the distance from the power unit. The suction remains the same at the furthest away inlet because of the high performance industrial strength motor providing the vacuum. Immediately the motor starts, the air is drawn from the ducting, causing continuous suction while the motor runs.

6: How often do you need to empty the bin?

The large capacity dirt receptacle only needs to be emptied 3-4 times a year.

7: Can my system get blocked?

Blockages rarely occur because the cleaning wands are 28mm diameter and the ducting which runs to the power unit is 50.8mm diameter. In addition, a special 90 degree elbow is located behind each inlet as a second line of defence. However, if a blockage does occur it can be easily cleared. For further details contact us for immediate advice. Our life time guarantee against blockages gives you complete peace of mind.

8: Can I install the system myself?

Yes. Our systems are sold for DIY installation or on a completely installed basis by ourselves. A detailed installation manual comes complete with every system.

9: Can a central vacuum system be installed in my existing premises?

Yes, in most cases. Our built-in vacuum systems can be installed in most buildings in less than a couple of days, depending on the size and style. A survey will determine how the system could be installed.

10: What's the guarantee?

All our domestic central vacuum systems are covered by a 10 year guarantee. This covers parts and labour on the ducting network, inlets and power unit. For commercial use, all parts of the system are guaranteed for 1 year from the date of purchase. Please request our terms and conditions.

11: How much does a Central Vacuum cost?

Surprisingly, a system often costs much less than many portable vacuums, and adds to a home's resale value. Cheshire Central Vacuums prices range from £600 + VAT for a complete DIY vacuum system, depending on the number of inlets required.
